The next weekend workshops will be taking place on:
21st – 22nd September
5th – 6th October
An essential grounding for beginners and for the more experienced watercolourist keen to understand more about this rewarding medium.
Using the landscape and the major objects within it as a framework, we explore the essential properties and characteristics of the medium that every aspiring painter should know: the colours and pigments, the secrets of achieving good reliable and controllable washes and a variety of useful techniques designed to avoid the usual pitfalls of the medium.
Each subject is covered by detailed explanation and demonstration followed by consolidation through practical application, uncomplicated exercises and personal advice.
Paints palettes and brushes will be provided and the standard paper used, 140lb (300gsm) Bockingfod, is available at cost. For consistency students are encouraged to use that provided, but students are welcome to compare their own favoured equipment.
Cost is £80 for the weekend. Gift vouchers are available on request.
